Uncommon royalty

Jesus condenses his teachings in the Sermon on the Mount and the Sermon on the Plain, offering provocative, formative, and decision-oriented wisdom. These sermons contain famous sayings and elaborate yet concise descriptions of the kingdom of God. What's remarkable is Jesus' focus on His disciples as the primary audience, shaping the primary aim of His teaching – their formation for the kingdom of God. While not the exclusive aim, this formation is emphatic. In these teachings, Jesus molds a people for the kingdom, and as we explore the Sermon on the Plain, we'll find His words intriguing, frustrating, comforting, and formative. Jesus desires us to receive and build our lives on His truths, forming us for a provocative kingdom of uncommon royalty.
