Don't Forget the Pit

Ephesians 2:11–12
"Therefore, remember… you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel, foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world."

Reflection
Paul opens with a command: remember. Not to wallow — but to wonder. Before you could appreciate what you have been given, you need to see clearly what you once were. Separate from Christ. Excluded. A foreigner to God's promises. Without hope. Without God. That is the honest picture of life apart from Jesus. The longer we walk with Him, the easier it becomes to soften that picture — to forget how far we were, how empty the distance felt. But Paul insists: don't forget. Because the depth of where you were is exactly what makes the grace of where you are so breathtaking.

Application
You will never get over God's grace if you keep forgetting where His grace found you.

Prayer
Lord, give me the courage to remember. Not to stay in the past, but to stand in awe of how far Your grace has carried me. Let the memory of where I was make me marvel at where I am in You.
