Friends – Day 3: Jesus Heals Relational Pain

Hey friend,

Some of the deepest hurt we carry comes from people. Today's good news is that Jesus doesn't stand at a distance from our relational pain — He can heal it and redeem it.

Scripture of the Day

"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
Hebrews 4:15–16 (NIV)

Jesus knows what it is to be let down. He was misunderstood by the crowds, betrayed by one friend and denied by another. Over Jerusalem He cried, "how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing" (Luke 13:34). He longs to gather us in, even when we're the ones who pull away.

Because He has been tempted in every way, He can empathize with our weaknesses — including the ones that wreck our friendships. He does not wave us off when we bring Him our hurt, our grudges, or our loneliness. He invites us to approach His throne of grace with confidence and receive mercy and grace in our time of need.

Healing doesn't mean pretending the pain didn't happen. It means bringing it to the One who can redeem it, and trusting Him to do in us what we cannot do ourselves.

Reflection Question

What relational pain have you been carrying quietly — a betrayal, a fallout, a season of loneliness? What would it look like to bring it to Jesus today and receive mercy and grace for it?

Prayer

Jesus, You understand my weaknesses and my wounds. I bring You the relationships that hurt, and the ones I've hurt. Meet me with mercy, give me grace for this time of need, and begin the healing and redeeming work only You can do. Amen.

In His grace,
